FTA’s Transit Workforce Center (TWC) will host the Making Connections 2022 Conference in Washington, D.C. on December 13-14 with co-sponsor National Transit Institute. The conference will bring together participants from the public transportation industry to highlight successful strategies for recruitment and retention, workforce training, apprenticeships, applying new technologies, and advancing diversity, equity, and access.
The conference includes four plenary sessions, more than 10 workshops, and multiple networking opportunities. FTA Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool will deliver a keynote about FTA’s renewed focus on workforce development.
Led by the International Transportation Learning Center, the TWC is FTA’s first-ever national technical assistance center for transit workforce development. FTA launched the TWC to help urban, suburban, tribal, and rural public transportation entities recruit, hire, train, and retain diverse workforces. Since its inception in 2021, TWC has held webinars, developed apprenticeship programs, facilitated transit interagency collaboration, and promoted workforce development.
