FTA Releases Greenhouse Gas Estimator Tool v2.0

As part of its recognition of Earth Day, FTA has released an updated Transit Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) Estimator that incorporates current emissions data and is more user-friendly than the previous version. The GHG Estimator is used with the Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Transit Projects: Programmatic Assessment published in January 2017 to help  transit agencies generate GHG emissions estimates for their National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews. The tool estimates the partial lifecycle GHG emissions generated from the construction, operation, and maintenance phases of a project across transit modes.

The 2.0 version of the GHG Estimator supports the President’s January 20, 2021 Executive Orders on Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis (EO 13990) and Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad (EO 14008).
