What to Expect at the July and August 2019 FTA PTASP Bus Workshops

FTA is hosting three one-day Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP) Bus Workshops in July and August. In the workshops, participants will learn how to develop an Agency Safety Plan and gain a fuller understanding of the PTASP regulation (49 C.F.R. Part 673) requirements. Exercises will be offered to illustrate how to implement the four components of a Safety Management System, including Safety Management Policy, Promotion, Risk, and Assurance. Additionally, FTA will review supplemental materials—including guides, fact sheets, and templates—to assist with the development of Agency Safety Plans.

This workshop is a great opportunity to hear best practices from other agencies and ask your PTASP questions, especially for those who have not started to develop an Agency Safety Plan or have questions on the development process. The bus workshops will take place in Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco. A separate workshop is scheduled for Rail Transit Agencies and State Safety Oversight Agencies, September 23, 2019, in Washington, D.C. A full agenda will be provided soon.
