TRB webinar: Dialysis Transportation: The Intersection of Transportation & Healthcare (May 13)

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) will conduct a free webinar from 2-3 p.m. ET Monday, May 13, 2019, that features research findings from the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP)’s Research Report 203: Dialysis Transportation: The Intersection of Transportation and Healthcare.

The webinar will address challenges that public transportation agencies encounter regarding the rising demand of dialysis-related transportation and its associated costs. People who depend on public transportation for dialysis treatments often require more specialized services than what the public transportation agencies are designed to provide.

The webinar will cover:

  • Background information about kidney disease, dialysis, and treatment options
  • Overview of the report findings
  • Transportation challenges from the perspective of transit agencies, nephrology social workers and dialysis patients
  • An introduction to the Community Data Tool developed for the report
  • Strategies for more effective dialysis transportation
  • Q&A session
