FTA to Co-Host June 14 Forum to Explore Transit Supply Chain Partnerships

FTA encourages all interested stakeholders to attend a Buy America Transit Supply Chain Connectivity Forum in Baltimore, MD from noon-6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) 2017 Rail Conference. The forum is designed to bring large transit original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers together with smaller, capable and interested U.S. manufacturers to facilitate the use of a higher percentage of domestic suppliers in transit products and systems. Buy America requirements prevent FTA from obligating funds for a project unless the manufactured goods used in the project are produced in the U.S.

The forum will provide a venue for smaller manufacturers to learn what products are needed and what investments they need to consider when entering the transit industry. Participants will include government agency staff, large transit OEM and Tier 1 suppliers, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership. The Manufacturing Extension Partnership is a federal/state/private collaboration operating in 50 states and Puerto Rico that connects U.S. manufacturers with supply chain opportunities and provides technical assistance to manufacturers.

Registration is required. For additional information, please contact Samm Bowman at Samm@nist.gov or 301-975-5978. Unable to attend? FTA will host a subsequent forum at the APTA Annual Meeting and Expo in Atlanta, GA on October 11, 2017.
