The A-GaME – Post-Game Analysis

Advanced Geotechnical Methods in Exploration (A-GaME)

The Use of CPT Data in Numerical Modeling

A presentation by Augusto Lucarelli of Itasca Consulting Group during A-GaME webinar #9  — Post-Game Analysis: Making the Most of Your Methods — focuses on the application of Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) for numerical modeling. In particular, Lucarelli discusses a deformation analysis calibrating the plastic hardening small-strain constitutive model, which is widely used for static numeric analysis. Lucarelli walks through examples of applications and shares insights to the various ways that CPT data can be processed for use in numerical analysis. This presentation is a great demonstration of how CPT data can be used directly in complex engineering analyses.

In another presentation from A-GaME webinar #9 — Post-Game Analysis: Making the Most of Your Methods, Jesse Rauser of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) and Xin Peng of Ardaman and Associates, introduce their preliminary work collaboratively developing a geotechnical web-based system to visualize and interpret data properly and efficiently. The team demonstrates how they have taken geotechnical data from a large LA DOTD project and plotted the data in a web-based interface that leverages the power of DIGGS, a standard data transfer schema for geotechnical and geoenvironmental data, which can be efficiently used in web-based systems and other digital programs for interactive data analyses, visualization, interpretation and other applications. The applications that Rauser and Peng present are compelling and will make you want to learn more about the power of data transfer standardization.
