WZITS Implementation Tool Now Available

The Work Zone Intelligent Transportation Systems (WZITS) Implementation Tool, a software companion to the Work Zone ITS Implementation Guide (FHWA-HOP-14-008) is now available.

The tool is designed to support enhanced data collection and the quantitative assessments necessary to determine the suitability of ITS solutions. It is intended for agency use to support decision making regarding the selection, design, procurement, and evaluation of ITS systems for construction and maintenance projects.

➜ Access the tool here.

Join FHWA for regional demonstration workshops that encourage the widespread adoption of both the tool and the systematic process for WZITS decision-making.

Fatal Work Zone Crash Data Dashboard is Live

Access to fatal work zone crash and worker accident data has now been made simpler via a new dashboard on the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse

The dashboard contains fatal work zone crashes and work zone fatalities overall, those involving large trucks, and those involving pedestrians for the last 10 years, all extracted from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Highway worker fatalities are also available, extracted from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor. The data from any given year can also be compared to the previous 3-year average for trend analysis purposes.

National and state-level data are available.

Access the dashboard here.
