Veterans Day

As Veterans Day approaches, we pause to honor the men and women who bravely served our nation. Our veterans tirelessly sacrifice so much to protect and defend our nation. They deserve our very best efforts to ensure fair employment when they transition to the civilian workforce.

At OFCCP, a cornerstone of our mission is to ensure equal employment opportunity for veterans in federal contracting. This includes facilitating relationships between federal contractors seeking workers and workers seeking job opportunities. It also means that we recognize federal contractors who are leading the way in recruiting, employing, and retaining veterans.

In executing our mission, OFCCP is proud to support the programs run by DOL's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS), such as thHIRE Vets Medallion Program. Many of the job creators eligible to participate in that program are the very federal contractors that OFCCP seeks to recognize for their leadership.  Federal contractors are also well positioned to engage in hiring fairs held on military bases across the nation to help separating service members transition into civilian life, and to assist military spouse employment

OFCCP and VETS work together every day to connect veterans to jobs and to protect the employment and reemployment rights of veterans. Looking forward, OFCCP is excited to enhance this partnership as it implements a focused review process under the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA).  As partners, we are reviewing the intersection between VEVRAA and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act to identify a joint strategy that yields results for veterans and brings about federal contractor compliance under both laws.

On this Veterans Day, OFCCP wants to personally invite you to view some of the resources for veterans and employers on our website and learn more about how we serve America's veterans.
