The department is pleased to introduce Alix Gould-Werth, PhD as the new Chief Evaluation Officer. Dr. Gould-Werth is a nationally recognized expert on Unemployment Insurance, Paid Family and Medical Leave, schedule stability, and other issues affecting low-wage U.S. workers and their families. Prior to her time at the department, Dr. Gould-Werth has worked at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, Mathematica, and Fountain House. Ahead of International Long COVID Awareness Day on March 15th, the department's Clearinghouse for Labor Evaluation and Research (CLEAR) posted a rapid evidence review, Long COVID and the Workforce, synthesizing recent literature on Long COVID's influence on labor force participation and identifies strategies for staying employed or returning to work. Youth Apprenticeship Week (May 5-11) Building off of the success of National Apprenticeship Week, the department will host the first Youth Apprenticeship Week (YAW) this May. YAW is a nationwide celebration to highlight the value of Registered Apprenticeship program opportunities for youth. In preparing for the events, check out CEO’s youth apprenticeship-focused reports, such as Models of Youth Registered Apprenticeship Expansion: Evidence from the Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Grants and Youth Apprenticeship in the United States.
National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) Annual Conference (May 20-22) CEO staff will be participating virtually in NAWDP’s 40th Annual Conference, and look forward to connecting on a variety of topics from utilizing data and labor market information to improving access to jobs.
Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS) (May 29–31) Will we see you in DC? CEO staff will be participating in the conference on May 29-31 for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services RECS 2024. Attendees have an opportunity to hear the latest research findings, discuss ways to incorporate findings into the design and implementation of programs, and identify future research needs. This is a free conference; registration is required.
