Assistant Secretary Martinez Addresses International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference at California State University, Northridge (CSUN)Assistant Secretary Martinez spoke at the 27th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference at CSUN, where she highlighted the Labor Department's efforts to promote the development and adoption of accessible workplace technology by employers. Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) Webinar Reaches Over 800 Federal OfficialsA nationwide webinar co-produced by the Departments of Labor and Defense highlighted the Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities. Titled "Talent Has No Boundaries," the webinar reached more than 800 federal officials and was hosted as part of Executive Order 13548, which calls for increasing federal employment of individuals with disabilities. Presentation materials from the webinar are available online. Campaign for Disability Employment Announces “What can YOU Do?” Video Contest Prizes — Deadline is March 30, 2012The Campaign for Disability Employment has announced that first place winners in each of the "What can YOU do?" video competition's three categories (General Public, Youth, and Employer) will receive an Apple® iPad®, and cash awards will go to second place winners in the General Public and Youth categories. This contest is designed to promote the talent and skills that people with disabilities bring to America's workforce and economy. The deadline for entry is March 30, 2012.

Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) Demonstration Video for the LOMAK Featured in the Museum of Modern ArtThe assistive technology device Light Operated Mouse and Keyboard (LOMAK) is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Recently the Department of Defense's Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) sent its LOMAK demonstration video to accompany the device on display at the museum. MoMA hosts about two million visitors each year, exposing a large and diverse population to assistive technology. |
