Paid Family and Medical Leave
The Office of Disability Employment Policy published a brief on "Access to Paid Leave for Family and Medical Reasons Among Workers with Disabilities." The brief uses the most recent publicly available data from the 2017-2018 American Time Use Survey Leave and Job Flexibilities Module, linked to Current Population Survey data, to examine access to paid leave for family and medical reasons among workers with and without disabilities.
Building Equity and Inclusion into Your WIOA State Plan Two-Part Webinar Series
The LEAD Center will host a two-part webinar series on "Building Equity and Inclusion in Your WIOA State Plan." The series will focus on updating states' Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act four-year plans to ensure the public workforce system serves everyone, including people with disabilities. It will examine practices for building equity and inclusion in two critical areas: system coordination and alignment and collecting, sharing and reporting data that benefit individuals, communities and policies. Part 1, on January 11 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET, will feature Carol Rogers from Indiana University and Jessica Cunningham from Kentucky Center for Statistics. Part 2, on January 19 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET, will feature Lisa D. Jones from Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity and Lauren Gilwee from Maryland Department of Labor.
NEON National Plan to Increase Competitive Integrated Employment
The Employment First Community of Practice webinar "NEON National Plan to Increase Competitive Integrated Employment" will be held on January 27 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET. In the webinar, Dr. David Mank and Dr. Richard Luecking will discuss the National Expansion of Employment Opportunities Network's national plan to increase Competitive Integrated Employment. Joining them will be leaders from the five NEON national provider organizations: ACCSES, ANCOR, APSE, The Arc US and SourceAmerica.
Disability Inclusion in Advanced Manufacturing
The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion webinar "Expanding Your Talent Pool: Disability Inclusion in Advanced Manufacturing" will be held on February 16 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET. In this webinar, participants will hear from companies in the advanced manufacturing field with successful track records of hiring workers with disabilities. They will share how they recruit, hire, integrate and support workers with disabilities in a manufacturing setting.

The Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology released its December newsletter. The newsletter highlights tips for accessible virtual meetings, including responding to captioning requests, an archived podcast on XR in the workplace and more.
ePolicyWorks Vega Digital Awards
ePolicyWorks won two Vega Digital Awards for its inclusive crowdsourcing platform and outreach efforts. The Vega Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in digital works and projects representing digital culture. ePolicyWorks received a Centauri award for its public service and activism in the "virtual/remote experience" category and "best use of interconnectivity" under the same category. To date, ePolicyWorks has hosted 60 interactive online dialogues and has engaged more than 20,000 active participants, who contributed more than 6,000 ideas, 11,000 comments and 40,000 votes.
Federal and State Actions on Minimum and Subminimum Wages
In collaboration with the State Exchange on Employment & Disability, the Council of State Governments published a blog, "U.S. Department of Labor Announces Rule to Increase Minimum Wage for Federal Contract Employees." The blog outlines the department's ruling eliminating the exemption for federal contractors with disabilities to be paid less than the minimum wage. The blog also highlights recent state legislation prohibiting or phasing out subminimum wage for employees with disabilities and links to a summary of federal and state subminimum wage legal and policy actions.
