Workforce Recruitment Program Seeks Federal Recruiters
The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) seeks federal employees to act as volunteer recruiters during the WRP recruitment season from October 26 through November 18, 2020. The WRP is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and select private-sector employers nationwide with college students and recent graduates with disabilities for summer and permanent jobs. Recruiters must commit to conducting at least 10 informational interviews with students by phone during the recruitment season and must complete a 90-minute online training this summer. Registration is open until September 18, 2020.
Inclusion at Work Webinar
The National Industry Liaison Group will host a webinar on "ODEP Inclusion at Work in Practice" on August 26, 2:00 p.m.-3:15 p.m. ET. This webinar will explore the Inclusion@Work framework developed by the Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion to help employers create disability-inclusive workplaces. Speakers include the winners of the U.S. Department of Labor's Excellence in Disability Inclusion Award, PepsiCo and CVS Health. The companies will share strategies for implementing the elements of the framework.
Youth Employment Webinar Archive
The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion hosted a webinar on "Celebrating ADA30: A Discussion on Youth Employment from the ADA Generation." The webinar featured a panel discussion with young people with disabilities, known as the "ADA Generation," who grew up after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. They shared their experiences in the workplace and offered ideas to help employers attract young people with disabilities. A representative from the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire reviewed key findings of the "2020 Kessler Foundation National Employment and Disability Survey: Recent College Graduates."
E-Recruiting Screening Systems Checklist
The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion collaborated with the Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology to develop a "Checklist for Employers: Facilitating the Hiring of People with Disabilities Through the Use of eRecruiting Screening Systems, Including AI." The checklist highlights questions and issues that leadership, human resources personnel, equal employment opportunity managers, and procurement officers entering into contracts with vendors for e-recruiting (including artificial intelligence (AI)) screening tools should consider.
Well-Being in the Workplace Guide
Hiring Our Heroes and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation published a resource on "Wellbeing in the Workplace: A Practical Guide for Business." Created in collaboration with the President's Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End a National Tragedy of Suicide (PREVENTS) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the guide presents best practices for supporting the workplace mental health. Recommended resources include the Office of Disability Employment Policy, the Job Accommodation Network, and the Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion.
