DECEMBER 2022 |
|
|
2022 has been a year of engagement, investment, and impact, fueled by a year of support from our many financial contributors. Together, we are achieving more than any of us could do alone. The canals are closed for winter, but big plans are underway for 2023. We look forward to an exciting and productive New Year.
Warm regards,
Bob Radliff Executive Director

Thank you C&S Companies!
Employees at C&S Companies held an “Empire State Trail Challenge” earlier this year as a fun way to bring together employees from their offices in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany and raise awareness of the wonderful recreational opportunities along the canals. Participants set a goal to walk, run or bike the Erie Canal portion of the Empire State Trail and document their experiences through pictures and videos. Along the way, they also raised $4,000, which they generously donated to the Erie Canalway Heritage Fund through the C&S Foundation. Thank you for your generosity!

HOLIDAY FUN
When the canal was drained for winter, water that remained on the bottom iced over, enabling skaters to enjoy an outdoor rink in some canal communities. Here, a crowd enjoys skating on the Rochester Aqueduct around 1900. Photo: Rochester Public Library
Enjoy some winter fun with outdoor ice skating, First Day Hikes, the FEBRUARY 15 Canalway Challenge, and On the Canals activities.
