DoD is overhauling its PCS system, starting with a task force focused on holding vendors accountable and ensuring goods arrive on time. DoD also plans to reduce discretionary PCS spending by 50%. Plans include:
- Eventually reducing PCS frequency and keeping MilFamilies in one place longer.
- Possibly adjusting career development models to prioritize geographic stability.
- Potentially updating promotion requirements to retain skilled individuals.
- Operationalizing how DoD moves household goods.
- Canceling the Global Household Goods contract.
- Setting up a 24/7 hotline where Service members can report concerns:
