T&S JOURNAL INTERVIEW:  Senior editor Kristin Quinn, Training & Simulation Journal, C4ISR Journal Gannett Government Media Corp., interviewed Lt. Col. Chip Huisman, 315th Training Squadron commander, yesterday (July 26) about the process of training intelligence Airmen for global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations. Col. Huisman also addressed the new Joint Intelligence Technical Training Facility that is under construction at Goodfellow Air Force Base to support his squadron’s mission. PA anticipates positive coverage in the August edition.

a.  SAN ANTONIO MAGAZINE ON 9/11:  Reporter Randy Lankford, San Antonio Express-News, interviewed 37th Training Wing Commander, Col. Eric Axelbank, on his memories of September 11, 2001 and how the wing has changed over these past ten years. Colonel Axelbank discussed changes that have occurred in Basic Military Training and how training adapts to the needs of national security, the wing’s Warrior Airman ethos, and its role as a training standard throughout the Air Force. PA anticipates balanced coverage at a date TBD.

 

b.  AIR FORCE TIMES ON COMBATIVES TRAINING:  Reporter, David Larter, Air Force Times, interviewed Basic Military Training leadership and staff about the adoption and evolution of combatives training occurring in BMT. Larter was briefed on the dramatic changes to the BMT curriculum to make airmen battlefield-ready and how the curriculum conforms to feedback from the field on the sufficiency of the training. Larter also visited the Combined Arms Training and Maintenance course to observe marksmanship training and interview training staff about the various levels of weapons training, the state of marksmanship in BMT and program changes to broaden the marksmanship experience. PA anticipates balanced coverage in the next issue.

He spoke about the mission of the wing and the Sheppard AFB October open house and airshow. Positive civic outreach.

 

b.  WICHITA FALLS KIWANIS CLUB SPEAKER:  Maj. Jeffrey Palomino, 82nd Training Wing deputy staff judge advocate, spoke at the Wichita Falls (Texas) Kiwanis Club luncheon yesterday (July 26).  Major Palomino gave an overview of his military career, the military justice system and the Sheppard AFB mission. Positive civic outreach.
