Students participate in the Navy Basic Underwater Demolition course during an evolution known as "surf passage" on Amphibious Base Coronado, Calif., Jan. 21, 2014. The evolution is part of training to be a SEAL, which is the maritime component of U.S. Special Forces. SEALs are trained to conduct a variety of operations from the sea, air and land.
