Outgoing Deputy Defense Secretary Ash Carter says his final goodbyes as he departs the Pentagon for the last time, Dec. 4, 2013. Carter, who has served as deputy defense secretary since October 2011, visited troops in Afghanistan over Thanksgiving to say farewell and thank them for their service.
