U.S. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta greets Pope Benedict XVI, during the pope's weekly general audience at the Vatican in Vatican City, Jan. 16, 2013. The pontiff thanked Panetta for helping to protect the world. Panetta is on a six-day trip to visit European defense counterparts and troops.
