Dear Valued HSIN Partner,
Congratulations on winning
the prestigious 2013 Outstanding IT Achievement in Government Award! The HSIN
Community has made HSIN an effective, efficient, and trusted information
sharing platform in support of the homeland security mission. Read more below,
congratulations and thank you!

Geospatial Resources now available on HSIN
The Geospatial Resources
Community provides HSIN users access to geospatial capabilities available in
support of the Homeland Security Enterprise including the Geospatial Information Infrastructure (GII) and the Oneview web
map viewer. The GII is the geospatial platform for the Homeland Security
community. The GII offers access
to numerous geospatial capabilities and applications including the OneView map
viewer, GIS data services for web and desktop users, geoanalytic services,
geocoding, common operating data such as the Homeland Security Infrastructure
Protection data (HSIP), and GIS developer community resources. OneView is a
secure, web-based geospatial visualization tool that integrates commercial and
government-owned data and imagery from multiple sources provisioned through the
GII. GII applications and tools
such as OneView can be used to help provide situational and strategic awareness
for Homeland Security missions such as critical infrastructure protection,
border security, and disaster response and recovery.
To learn more about these applications visit the
Geospatial Resources Center under the HSIN GIS COI.

HSIN Wins “2013
Outstanding IT Achievement in Government” Award
DHS is proud
to announce that the HSIN program has been recognized with the Government
Computer News (GCN) “2013 Outstanding Information Technology (IT) Achievement
in Government” Award. Selected as one of just 15 winners from more than 200
Government IT programs, HSIN encourages information sharing by giving trusted
partners front door access to homeland security information. DHS community
members can join HSIN by simply contacting HSIN.Outreach@hq.dhs.gov.
GCN chose
HSIN for outstanding 2013 IT achievement in large part because the program
successfully undertook a major migration to a new, more secure and advanced
platform called HSIN Release 3 (R3). HSIN played a vital role in several recent
major incidents and events, including supporting security for the 2013 Super Bowl and Phoenix Open, the
investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing and the response to natural
disasters such as Hurricane Sandy.
“This Award
is for the HSIN Community,” explained Donna Roy, HSIN Program Director. “HSIN
users, site administrators and governance leaders are the momentum behind the
system. They are why HSIN is valued and used every day in support of high
priority projects across the nation. This recent migration of nearly 48,000
users and millions of documents from the legacy system to HSIN R3 is the first
step towards the vision of information sharing in a user-requirement-driven,
interoperable environment that is trusted and mission-based.”
HSIN is America’s focal point for sharing Sensitive
But Unclassified information. It enables Federal, State, Local, Tribal,
Territorial, International and Private Sector homeland security partners to
achieve their missions through information sharing.
