Another Big Week for Large-Scale Migrations to HSIN R3

We are pleased to welcome the following large-scale migrations to HSIN R3:

  1. Transportation Security Administration (TSA): is an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that exercises authority over the security of the traveling public in the United States.
  2. Federal Protection Service (FPS):  is charged with protecting thousands of federal facilities and safeguarding millions of federal employees, contractors and civilian visitors. FPS also ensures the protection of federal buildings by detecting, deterring, disrupting, and investigating threats using law enforcement authorities.

If You Have Users Who Were Using "HSIN Notify" On Legacy, It’s Now Up and Running on R3

Please notify your users that HSIN Notify is now running successfully on HSIN R3. Testing has indicated that your users will experience the same proven, reliable list service function. Additionally, we have migrated all of the original distribution lists from Legacy to the HSIN R3 version of HSIN Notify. The questions below emerged from the HUWG related to HSIN Notify’s transition from Legacy to R3. Please relay this information to your users and contact the HSIN Outreach Team (hsin.outreach@dhs.gov) if you or your users have any additional questions.

  • Q1: Will user’s accounts be migrated over?
  • A1: About 10 accounts from Legacy were successfully migrated to HSIN Notify R3.  Please try your Legacy login first to see if your account migrated.  If you are unable to login then you will need to create a new HSIN Notify user ID.  While creating a new ID, you should use the same email address that was used on Legacy Notify, if possible.  Also, you should stop using your Legacy Notify accounts as soon as you have created accounts in HSIN R3.  Any new data added to HSIN Legacy will not be migrated over.
  • Q2: When was the content backed-up and migrated from legacy into HSIN R3?
  • A2: HSIN Notify content was migrated from HSIN Legacy to HSIN R3 on May 9, 2013.
  • Q3: Will there be incremental migrations for any content that has been updated or will be updated before the legacy decommission?
  • Q3: No, incremental migrations of HSIN Notify data or lists are not currently scheduled prior to HSIN Legacy decommissioning.

Changes to Site Directory

As a Site Administrator, please note that we've made some changes to your individual sites in the site directory. We received some feedback from your users which indicated that some sites with long names were not fully visible in the nomination or Manual Identity Validator (MIV) forms. We've done our best to fix the majority of those issues by adding the sub site’s short name before the site's long name (ex.  CBP-STC – U.S. Customs and Border Protection – South Texas Campaign). Please review the list of links below and contact the HSIN Outreach team (hsin.outreach@dhs.gov) if there are any changes that need to be made:

HSIN R3’s New Jabber Thick Client Update

As a reminder, HSIN R3 will have the new Jabber Thick Client available later this summer.  The HSIN Outreach team is in the process of creating a Fact Sheet to assist your users when needed. If you have users in your site who use the current version of Jabber Thick Client on a regular basis, please work with your network administrator to ensure "Jabber Thick Client Version 3.2" is on the list of approved software end users can download to your network.  In the meantime, please ask your users if they would be willing to help test the Jabber Thick Client or help develop necessary trainings. If you or your users are interested, please contact the HSIN Outreach Team at hsin.outreach@hq.dhs.gov
