HSIN COI Admin Weekly Update

Dear Site Admin Partner,

The following information is intended to keep you up-to-date on HSIN Release 3’s (R3) progress and provide guidance for you and your users.

• New York Marks the Successful Conclusion of State Migrations to HSIN R3
We are pleased to welcome the mission-critical state of New York to HSIN R3. Their migration marks the completion migration of all 56 states and US territories to HSIN R3. Captain Douglas Keyer, New York State Intelligence Center (NYSIC) Director states, “The NYSIC’s migration to HSIN R3 required the coordinated effort of several New York state agencies. We feel that this new platform will not only assist in information sharing across the state but also among fusion centers nationwide. The New York State HSIN workgroup is looking forward to building out the HSIN-New York site.”

Another Big Week for Large-Scale Migrations to HSIN R3

We are pleased to welcome the following large-scale migrations to HSIN R3:

The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) was established to enhance and coordinate America’s drug-control efforts among local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in order to eliminate or reduce drug trafficking in critical regions of the United States.

• Call to Action: Remind Your Users to Log Off HSIN R3 Properly

It’s important to remind your users to use the “Single Sign-Out” button on the top right corner of their computer screen when logging out of HSIN. This will help ensure they close their active session. As a reminder, simply closing the web browser does not sufficiently log users out of HSIN R3.  sign off button

• HSIN Joint DHS/FBI Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Training Resources and Active Shooter Webportal Marks First Anniversary

Operational for more than one year, HSIN’s joint DHS/FBI Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Training Resources and Active Shooter Webportal currently provides federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and some international law enforcement training practitioners with resources that can be incorporated into existing training efforts or be used to develop new curricula on CVE. For the last year, hundreds of users have viewed the webportal’s training materials, videos, case studies, reference aids, research, best practices and other resources on topics ranging from cultural demystification to responding to active shooter scenarios. The webportal is still active in Legacy while users are being migrated to HR3. When the migration is completed, webportal access will be expanded to non-law enforcement stakeholders such as first responders and NGO’s. To learn more about how to become a member of the webportal, please contact Todd Van Cantfort (todd.vancantfort@hq.dhs.gov).

• Friendly Reminder from the HSIN R3 Team…

As R3 comes online, our first priority is to ensure optimal performance for your mission needs. During our migration you may, inevitably, notice the system is slower than normal due to the need to bring on large numbers of new users. We are working hard to balance migration demands with overall performance requirements. You are our first line of defense. Please help us by reporting any noticeable slow- downs. You'll help us most by telling us when the slow-down occurred and what function you were performing. Thank you for your patience and continued support of HSIN R3.

• Upcoming Outages

Please note that the HSIN R3 system outages are always subject to change. However, be advised of the following, currently planned outages. Final notice of an outage will always be provided by the HSIN Service Operations Team: 6/29/13- 6/30/13 – 9 PM EDT to 5 AM EDT.

Please contact the HSIN Outreach Team at hsin.outreach@hq.dhs.gov with comments and/or questions.

Thank you for your interest in HSIN R3!
