The HSI National Capital Region Special Response Team
 SAC DC SRT's Bearcat
The HSI National Capital Region (NCR) Special Response Team (SRT) is a highly trained tactical enforcement team comprised of HSI Special Agents from the HSI Washington, D.C. and Baltimore Special Agent in Charge offices. The team is one of the most actively deployed teams in the agency and routinely conducts high-risk criminal warrant service operations in both metropolitan and rural environments. The majority of their operations involve execution of criminal search or arrest warrants related to investigations involving international narcotics trafficking, internet child exploitation, transnational gang activity and national security related operations. Team members must pass a rigorous physical training course in Ft. Benning, Georgia and must demonstrate expert proficiency in the use of a variety of firearms and other tactical skills. Quarterly training requirements ensure proficiency and high standards are maintained. The team is routinely deployed around the country to assist other federal, state, and local agencies on investigations or special events such as the Super Bowl, national political conventions and other events. The primary purpose of the SRT is to ensure the safety of the public, agents, and suspects during high risk operations and its personnel are trained in de-escalation techniques. Recently, the team has been augmented with a Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) specially trained in de-escalation and hostage/barricaded subject negotiation tactics, further enhancing the safety of the public, agents, and suspects. The SRT and CNT utilize the latest in law enforcement technology to safely accomplish their mission and represent the best of HSI and federal law enforcement.
