Meet the National Response Coordination Branch Chief |
We are pleased to introduce you to the new National Response Coordination Branch (NRCB) Chief Anthony Battaglia. Anthony has been with the federal government for 12 years. He began his career at the U.S. Department of Transportation and experienced his first interagency response during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Anthony completed his undergraduate work at the University of Central Florida and his graduate degrees at George Washington University and the National Defense University. Anthony joined FEMA in 2017 and immediately began serving in the NRCC to support ongoing response and recovery efforts for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. In the last five years, Anthony enjoyed working with the people at FEMA. "I have worked alongside wonderful individuals who care deeply about FEMA's mission and want to make a difference in people's lives. In this new role, I will have the opportunity to work with teams across the agency, and I am excited to build on existing relationships and develop new ones," he said. As for his vision in this leadership role, Anthony stated, "I think having a permanent NRCC staff affords all kinds of opportunities before, during, and after incidents. Specifically, I am excited to continue growing the team and bringing in more talent to expand our response support capabilities. I am also eager to recruit and retain more individuals who serve in the NRCC as a collateral duty. Finally, I want to make sure we spend time building out our preparedness capabilities to make sure the NRCC is ready to go in support of any disaster; this includes building out internal processes and procedures, keeping doctrine and guides updated, and maximizing training to enhance readiness further." During his downtime, Anthony enjoys playing tennis and golf. He claims that he is not particularly good at either, but both are fun and great ways to get outside and spend time with friends. Welcome Anthony

Position Spotlight:
Resource & Capability Branch Director
|
The Resource and Capability Branch Director (RCBD) within the Resource Support Section receives all requests for resources and capabilities from the Regions and JFO. The RCBD reviews all requests for validity, eligibility, clarity, and completeness. Once reviewed, the RCBD forwards requests to a Group Supervisor for action. Throughout the review, the RCBD consults with the Comptroller to ensure funds are available. In the event a request is for a high demand resource but with low availability, the RCBD will highlight the request for the Resource Support Section Chief or Deputy to adjudicate.

September is dedicated as National Preparedness Month. The NRCC was honored to host the launch of this year’s National Preparedness Month.
The theme of this year’s preparedness month is “A Lasting Legacy.” It is a reminder that the life you have built is worth protecting. Planning for disasters will make sure you and your family are safe, and it is the best way to protect your legacy.
The NRCC encourages IS cadres to take the time to prepare and evaluate a preparedness plan to preserve the legacy you have worked so hard to build for yourself and your family.
There are available resources to help you and your family create a coordinated plan in the event of an emergency.
Please, visit ready.gov to find out more about preparedness resources, steps and advise on how to protect the legacy you have built.
