Look up and share flood-related federal disaster information for your area. However, remember, many flood events are localized and do not rise to the level of a federal disaster declaration.

Chart showing the average NFIP claims payment in Texas is about $54,000 while the average FEMA disaster assistance is about $7,300.

Shown here is the average National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) claim payment for policyholders in Texas from 1996-2019 and the average FEMA Individuals and Households Program (IHP) disaster assistance for flood related damages from 2006-2016. Don't rely on federal disaster assistance after a flood event. It's not always available and it's not enough to get you back to your pre-disaster condition. Homeowners, business owners and renters should get flood insurance to help ensure they can recover after an event.
