FEMA Hosting Webinar Series for Homeland Security Grant Program Applicants
This fiscal year, DHS and FEMA added Community Preparedness and Resilience as an additional National Priority Area to the FY22 Homeland Security Grant Program. FEMA is hosting a webinar series for interested grant applicants to learn about the new priority.
Summary
FEMA is excited to announce the availability of the FY 2022 Notice of Funding Opportunities for eight preparedness grant programs including the FY 2022 HSGP.
The FY 2022 Homeland Security Grant Program is one of three grant programs that support the DHS/FEMA focus on enhancing the ability of state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as nonprofit organizations, to prevent, prepare for, protect against, and respond to acts of terrorism.
Given the evolving threat landscape, it is incumbent upon DHS to continually evaluate the national risk profile and set priorities that help ensure appropriate allocation of scarce security dollars. To that end, the DHS Secretary identifies National Priority Areas based on the current threat landscape and consultation with security experts and preparedness grant stakeholders.
This fiscal year, “Enhancing Community Preparedness and Resilience” has been added as a National Priority Area.
This is a positive and consequential step forward to bolster preparedness in communities, especially those that are historically underserved, across the nation. This is also the first time in over a decade that grant recipients will be required to allocate funds toward community preparedness projects.
FEMA is hosting a webinar series focused on the new “Enhancing Community Preparedness and Resilience” National Priority Area. The webinars will take place via Adobe Connect and will help potential applicants understand the entire grant process.
The webinars will cover:
- How to use the grant to effectively mitigate DHS concerns on terrorism.
- Guidance on meeting requirements for the “Enhancing Community Preparedness and Resilience” National Priority Areas.
- Additional guidance on how to submit a strong application for the program.
