Audit-Related Guidance for Entities Receiving FEMA Public Assistance Funds

On April 6, 2021, FEMA published the Audit-Related Guidance for Entities Receiving FEMA Public Assistance Funds Fact Sheet.

Every year the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Inspector General reports on issues with federal funds allocated for disaster assistance and recovery efforts. This Fact Sheet provides recipients and subrecipients of COVID-19 Public Assistance (PA) funds with audit-related guidance on documenting and accounting for disaster costs, minimizing the loss of FEMA funding, maximizing financial recovery, and preventing and reporting the fraud, waste, and abuse of disaster funds.

The guidance also includes information on safeguarding personally identifiable information and tips for procurement and contracting during emergency and exigent circumstances.
