TWO REVISED NIMS COURSES RELEASED

1417 - Training Bulletin - IS 100 700 Release

Purpose:

Provide information on the release of two revised NIMS/ICS Courses in the week of 25 June 2018.

Background:

FEMA released a revision of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) document in October 2017. Thirty NIMS related courses are in revision based on the updates in NIMS. The first two revised courses have been completed and will be released during the week of 25 June 2018. An additional twenty-eight NIMS curriculum courses are in final revisions for NIMS 2017 and will be released as they are completed and approved for release.

General:

FEMAs National Integration Center and the FEMA Emergency Management Institute have completed and approved the release of two revised online NIMS courses during the week of 25 June:

  • IS-100.c, An Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100This course introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. The course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • IS-700.b, An Introduction to the National Incident Management SystemThis course provides an overview of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS defines the comprehensive approach guiding the whole community - all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations (NGO), and the private sector - to work together seamlessly to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from the effects of incidents. The course provides learners with a basic understanding of NIMS concepts, principles, and components.
