May marks the 38th annual Building Safety Month, a public awareness
campaign that focuses on how to create safe and sustainable structures. This year’s theme is Building Codes Save Lives.
Enforcing building codes during construction or remodeling can
help protect personal health, safety, and property. That is why FEMA has
awarded over $46 million in mitigation grants to help communities develop
building codes and standards since 1989.
