Key Messages The next disaster recovery fairs is today, February 28 and tomorrow, March 1, hosted by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. For more information and to find out about future Disaster Recovery Fairs, call 817-372-0852 or visit www.hud.gov/RoadtoRecovery . FEMA Individual Assistance is designed to help survivors with immediate needs, housing repairs and temporary rental assistance as a bridge to long term solutions. After insurance, U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loans are the largest source of rebuilding funds for homeowners. Many survivors may have additional needs beyond what can be provided by FEMA programs. FEMA works closely with Puerto Rico and faith-based and voluntary agency partners to address remaining needs with other sources of assistance. FEMA extended the Transitional Sheltering Assistance program deadline until March 20, allowing eligible disaster survivors to temporarily shelter in a hotel or motel as a bridge to intermediate and long-term housing. By The Numbers
Last Pass Dates for Debris Pick-up The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, working with local officials, announced the end of debris pick-up by contractors in several municipalities.
Transitional Sheltering Assistance The Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program deadline has been extended to March 20, 2018. However, this does not mean that all survivors in TSA housing will be extended until this date. TSA extensions are decided on a case-by-case basis and extensions will be re-evaluated periodically to determine an applicant’s continued eligibility. Survivors in the TSA program are encouraged to stay in touch with FEMA about TSA eligibility status and program deadlines by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-FEMA (3362) Transitional Sheltering Assistance Map
