USCIS Office of Public Engagement: Invitation to Stakeholder Engagement on Sunset of Lautenberg Amendment

Dear Stakeholders – 

             

The USCIS International Operations Division and the Office of Public Engagement invite any interested parties to participate in a teleconference to discuss the sunset of the Lautenberg Amendment provision for the adjustment of status of parolees. The Lautenberg Amendment to the Foreign Operations Appropriations Act allows certain Lautenberg category members to adjust to lawful permanent resident status if they were paroled into the United States after being denied refugee status and have been physically present for one year in the United States.

 

However the provision of the Lautenberg Amendment which allows for adjustment of status for parolees is set to expire on September 30, 2011 and USCIS will end the Lautenberg Parole Program.

 

During the session, USCIS will provide an overview of the Sunset of the Lautenberg Amendment with regard to parole and will also discuss who will be affected by the decision and what action they will need to take.

 

During the call, USCIS will seek feedback from stakeholders and answer general questions from participants. Please join us for the call to learn more details about this important issue.
