SUBJ: SELECTION OF THE CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER OF THE COAST GUARD
1. I am pleased to announce that the Commandant asked the Assistant
Secretary of Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS) to assign CAPT Khalid A. Jaboori, USPHS, as Chief
Medical Officer (CMO) of the Coast Guard, and to be promoted to
Rear Admiral (upper half), upon assumption of these duties.
2. CAPT Jaboori is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician
with diverse experience in operational, clinical, educational, and
executive leadership assignments. He presently serves as the Flight
Surgeon at Air Station Port Angeles Washington where he directly
supports search and rescue cases throughout the Pacific Northwest
and Alaska. CAPT Jaboori previously deployed as a Brigade surgeon
for the 555th Combat Engineers in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom and he has deployed in support of multiple Southwest Border
Operations and Operation Vigilant Sentry. CAPT Jaboori has also
provided operational medical support across nearly every Coast
Guard clinic in the nation.
3. CAPT Jaboori's executive skills in leadership, management, and
health services make him ideally suited as our next CMO and I
welcome him as a member of our senior leadership team. I know that
he is personally committed to the well-being of our people, to
ensuring our medical system provides the foundation for effective
mission execution, and to building effective partnerships for our
medical support needs.
4. I anticipate CAPT Jaboori will assume the duties of CMO on or
about 01 August 2026.
5. Admiral Thomas Allan, Vice Commandant, sends.
6. Internet release authorized.
