A. Physical Readiness Program, COMDTINST 6100.1
1. Purpose. This ALCOAST announces the promulgation of the
Coast Guard's Physical Readiness Program, COMDTINST 6100.1.
2. Background. This Instruction establishes the U. S. Coast
Guard's Physical Readiness Program (PRP). The PRP is a
service-wide requirement designed to ensure Coast Guard military
personnel are physically ready to execute all Coast Guard missions.
The Physical Fitness Test (PFT), a component of the PRP, consists
of a series of physical events that assess cardiorespiratory
fitness and muscular endurance.
3. Direction. All commands are directed to read COMDTINST
6100.1 and announce its publication to your respective units to
ensure widest dissemination.
4. Direct Access (DA) & Evaluation Guidelines. You are
reminded that official PFTs, Re-Takes, and subsequent records
(DA and evaluations) are not to take effect until 01 July 2026.
Any Physical Fitness Assessment score entered prior to
01 July 2026 will not result in administrative consequences for
the service member.
