1. This ALCOAST announces an extension to the application timeline
for former Service members who were involuntarily separated, or
who voluntarily left the Service solely due to the COVID-19
vaccine mandate to be reinstated at their former grade, rank, or
rate.
2. EXTENDED TIMEFRAME TO APPLY: All former service members who wish
to return to service (R2S) under REFs (A) through (C) must
apply for reinstatement through the R2S Team (R2ST) no later than
01 April 2027.
3. NEW SERVICE OBLIGATION:
   a. The minimum service obligation for members who return to
service under this policy is reduced from 4 years to 2 years.
   b. Eligible members who previously R2S are authorized to modify
their existing agreements to reflect the reduction in obligated
service from 4 years to 2 years.
   c. Exception - Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders. Requests
to reduce obligated service from members who since returned to
service have executed PCS orders at government expense will be
reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine if such a reduction
meets the needs of the service.
   d. Exception - Bonuses. Members who received a bonus in exchange
for obligated service of greater than 2 years will not be considered
for an obligated service reduction.
