SUBJ: 2026 SILVER ANCIENT TRIDENT CANDIDATE SOLICITATION
A. Ancient Trident Award, COMDTINST 1650.17
1. The incumbent Silver Ancient Trident, MCPO Ann M. Logan, is
scheduled to retire in 2026. The selection process to identify
the 3rd Silver Ancient Trident is underway.
2. The Ancient Trident Designation was established in 2016 to
honor those with the longest time in the Marine Safety Program.
This designation not only recognizes Marine Safety longevity but
also extols the officer and enlisted Marine Safety Professional
whose personal character and performance standards honor the most
venerable practitioners of marine safety and reflect our
Core Values.
3. The Office of Shore Forces (CG-741) requests members who meet
ALL criteria listed in REF (A), and would like to be considered
for selection as the Silver Ancient Trident, provide copies of
their Employee Summary Sheet (ESS) and other relevant documentation
showing their eligibility and dates of assignments to the POCs
listed in paragraph 5 below no later than 13MAR2026.
4. The Silver Ancient Trident will be chosen from the group of
enlisted candidates meeting the eligibility requirements in REF (A).
COMDT (CG-741) will coordinate with PSC EPM to convene a panel to
review the military records of the Silver Ancient Trident candidates
to ensure that their qualification and performance of duty reflect
the program criteria. The award may only be earned once and is
retained until the award holder retires, is released from active
duty, or is documented to have unsatisfactory conduct.
