1. On 18 October 1974, the Office of Personnel Management
promulgated the Coast Guard Cutterman Insignia program to
"recognize the contributions and qualifications of our personnel."
To commemorate the 51st anniversary of the creation of the
Cutterman Insignia, the Coast Guard Office of Cutter Forces
(CG-751) sponsored Eight Bells - a Sea Service Celebration.
2. This year's Eight Bells theme, "Underway as Before, Steaming
into the Future," celebrates the bold advancements of
Force Design 2028, while paying tribute to the enduring seagoing
traditions that define our Service. As part of the celebration,
the Coast Guard Office of Cutter Forces (CG-751), hosted
an essay/poem/short story and audio/video contest, celebrating
this year's theme.
3. Congratulations to the following winners of the 2025 Eight
Bells Written Contest:
    a. First Place - "First in Class" by CWO Douglas Olsen,
CGC BEAR
    b. Second Place - "Chronometers" by BMC Christopher Browning,
(ret.), AVTRACEN MOBILE
    c. Third Place - "Eight Bells" by ET2 Adam Pena, CGC HARRIET LANE
4. Congratulations to the following winners of the 2025 Eight
Bells Audio/Video Contest:
    a. First Place - "Letter to Sumner Kimball" by CGC KIMBALL
    b. Second Place - "New Horizons" by ITC Aaron Sanders, MIFC LANT
    c. Third Place - "Beset in Ice" by LT Geoffrey DeLorie,
CG ACADEMY
