SUBJ: COAST GUARD COACHING COMMUNITY SOLICITATION
1. FORCECOM's Leadership Development Branch (CG-FC-LDR), is
soliciting Coast Guard service members & civilians who are currently
certified professional coaches, and those interested in becoming a
coach, to enhance the personal and professional effectiveness of
fellow employees to strengthen the foundation of the Coast Guard
Profession. This community of volunteers will have opportunities
for continued education to maintain certification and accumulate
coaching hours while actively guiding Coast Guard employees towards
professional excellence. Future leadership development initiatives
within the service may include required coaching sessions as a
follow-on to specific courses or assessments.
2. Professional coaching is a collaborative partnership focused
on helping individuals identify their goals and develop a clear
path to achieve them. Coaches provide support, guidance, and
accountability, empowering clients to overcome obstacles and
maximize their potential. It's a powerful process for enhancing
performance, improving leadership skills, and fostering personal
growth. This initiative is an extension of the Coast Guard's
respected reputation for producing leaders across all paygrades,
as early as possible, who intentionally guide and impart wisdom
to those under their purview.
3. Coaching candidates acknowledge this role as a collateral duty
while assigned to their permanent duty station, and will prioritize
responsibilities as appropriate. Each coach is expected to work
with no more than five personnel at any given time. Commands should
encourage members who pursue the collateral to do so to the maximum
appropriate extent that their operational and/or daily
responsibilities permit.
