FOR SECURITY STUDIES (DKI APCSS) INDO-PACIFIC ORIENTATION COURSE
(IPOC) 25-2
1. The Office of International Affairs and Foreign Policy (DCO-I) is
announcing an opportunity for four Coast Guard military or civilian
employees to attend the Indo-Pacific Orientation Course (IPOC)
session 25-2 being held at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center
for Security Studies, Fort DeRussy, HI. IPOC provides security
practitioners with a comprehensive overview of critical sub-regions,
key issues, concerning trends, and notable themes and patterns that
help expand participants' knowledge of these topics. This course
focuses on the diverse security dynamics and strategic imperatives
of the Indo-Pacific region, providing a comprehensive overview that
includes political, economic, cultural, and security issues.
     a. Dates: 20-24 Oct 25
     b. Eligibility: O-4 to O-6, CWO3 to CWO4, E-8 to E-9, and
GS-13 to GS-15
2. There is no fee to attend the course, however, travel and
per diem expenses are the responsibility of the member's command.
Estimated cost of lodging and per diem is $2,500. This cost
does not include airfare which varies considerably by location.
3. To be considered for attendance, commands must submit a
nomination memo in standard CG memo format to
COMDT-SMB-CG-DCO-I-AdvEd@uscg.mil no later than 08 AUG 25.
No extensions of this deadline will be approved.
     a. Subject line for memo/email: INDO-PACIFIC ORIENTATION
COURSE (IPOC) NOMINATION FOR (rate/rank/grade) X. X. XXXXXXXX
     b. Memo should address how the member's assigned position
involves operating or decision-making in international or
inter-governmental settings relevant to the Indo-Pacific,
why they would benefit from attending this course, and amount
of time remaining at current unit.
     c. Memo is limited to no more than one page.
     d. Primary selectees will be notified OOA 20 AUG. If a primary
selectee cancels, an alternate from nominations received will be
offered the unused seat. Units are not authorized to make
substitutions of selectees.
     e. If additional seats become available, alternates from
nominations received will be offered these seats.
