SOLICITATION
A. Reserve Duty Status and Participation, COMDTINST 1001.2A
1. The Assistant Commandant for Reserve (CG-R) is pleased to
announce the solicitation for nominations for the Coast Guard
Foundation Enlisted Reserve Scholarships for the 2025-2026
academic year. The Coast Guard Foundation will award eight
$1,000 scholarships to deserving enlisted reservists or their
eligible dependents.
2. Eligibility Requirements:
a. Enlisted Coast Guard reservist or their dependent.
b. Reservist must be in the Selected Reserve or Individual
Ready Reserve, with an enlistment contract valid through
31 December 2025.
c. Dependents must be registered in the Defense Enrollment
Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) under the sponsor reservist.
d. Be enrolled in, or accepted by, an accredited degree
granting institution or an accredited technical or vocational
training school, and be pursuing their first associate, bachelor,
master, or doctoral degree or a technical or vocational certificate.
e. Maintain the minimum grade point average required by their
institution to remain in a degree or certificate status.
3. Application Requirements:
a. Applicants must include a signed, one-page cover letter
confirming all eligibility requirements (listed in paragraph 2)
are met. If applying as a dependent, the sponsor must also sign
the letter. The cover letter must include contact phone numbers,
mailing addresses, and email addresses for both applicant
and sponsor.
b. Include a one-page typed essay describing an accomplishment
(Coast Guard or civilian career, extra-curricular, or volunteer)
the applicant is proud of and how their experience with the
Coast Guard Reserve enabled or inspired that accomplishment.
c. An official transcript from the college-level 2024-2025
academic year is required. If the applicant is newly accepted
and doesn't have a transcript yet, provide proof of enrollment
(e.g., acceptance letter). Important: Only transcripts from
institutions of higher education are accepted; do not send
high school transcripts.
d. Each application must include a command endorsement from
the reservist's current command. If the applicant is a dependent,
the endorsement is still required and must come from the dependent's
sponsor's command. This endorsement must state the reservist is
compliant with all readiness and participation standards IAW
REF (A), chapter 3, and has no disciplinary actions within the
last two years. The Commanding Officer or Officer in Charge (OIC)
must sign the endorsement.
4. Email application packages to ReserveScholarships@uscg.mil.
Do not submit paper copies.
5. Educational institutions must send official transcripts via
email to ReserveScholarships@uscg.mil.
6. Application packages and official transcripts must be received
no later than 15 August 2025. Incomplete or late submissions will
not be considered.
7. The Coast Guard Foundation will select scholarship winners who
will be announced via ALCOAST in September 2025.
