Waterways Status – P1 Offshore Grand Prix – New Orleans, LA

 

The Powerboat P1 Offshore Grand Prix will be held in New Orleans, LA on Lake Pontchartrain beginning on June 24, 2025 and lasting through June 29, 2025. The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) New Orleans, under the authority of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, will be establishing a safety zone for the race zone and areas between the Bonnabel Boat Launch and the New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor to protect personnel and vessels from race hazards.

 

All vessels are prohibited from entering the safety zone created by the following points:

 

30°01.87900' N, 090°06.36500' W to 30°02.52700’ N, 090°06.31800' W to

30°02.71800' N, 090°08.95700' W to 30°01.30300' N, 090°09.20700' W.

Additionally, no spectator vessel is allowed to anchor, block, loiter, or impede the through transit of participants or a designated representative in the regulated area during the effective dates and times. Boats from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) will be posted at the near the entrances of the marinas to help guide recreational boating traffic through the safety zone.

 

This safety zone will be enforced from June 24, 2025, through June 29, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.Grand Prix

 

 

 

 

 

Only predesignated vessels participating in the event will be permitted within the regulated area. All other vessels are prohibited from entering the safety zone unless they have been granted permission by the COTP New Orleans or the designated representative. All vessels requesting permission to enter or transit through the safety zone must contact the designated representative on VHF-FM Channel 78. The designated representative will evaluate vessel transits through the safety zone on a case-by-case basis.
