SUBJ: SOLICITATION FOR THE TRACEN CAPE MAY (TCCM) RECRUIT COMPANY
MENTOR PROGRAM
A. Military Assignments and Authorized Absences, COMDTINST 1000.8A
1. This ALCOAST solicits applications for the FY26 Recruit Company
Mentor Program. The recruit company mentoring program is an
essential component in the development of our newest shipmates.
Mentors meet with their Recruit Company at three points during the
eight-week recruit training period; first a meeting during week
two (2), again at week five (5), and finally for their company's
graduation ceremony during week eight (8). The program's objective
is to expose recruits to experienced members of the service that
can help answer questions and guide them through the challenges and
opportunities that they will soon face. We seek a robust pool of
candidates from a variety of specialties to enhance recruit exposure
to high-performance leaders within the service.
2. During the selection process, priority will be given to personnel
with recent operational experience at units with non-rates assigned
and strong records of performance. Typically, no more than
two mentors will be assigned per company. Mentors should be
inspiring and able to engage, relate to, and communicate fluidly
with recruits. Mentors should also anticipate a public speaking
role at graduation.
3. Mentor Application Requirements:
a. Primary Mentor: Enlisted personnel E-6 and above.
b. Alternate Mentors: E-5 and above and must apply paired with a
Primary Mentor.
c. The 2025 Coast Guard-wide EPOY, Munro and McShan leadership
award winners will automatically be reserved a mentor spot for FY26.
Applications are still required to indicate a desire to participate.
d. The Recruit Company Mentoring program is considered a mission
critical activity. Funding for mentor travel costs, to include award
winners, is at unit expense. Authorization for travel and subsequent
funding must be approved IAW current travel requirements.
4. Given the typical level of interest in this unique opportunity
and the number of available companies, not all applicants will be
selected. However, we do encourage members who were not selected in
previous years to re-apply this year. Commanding Officers are
strongly encouraged to support the participation of selected recruit
company mentors.
5. All interested candidates should submit their Recruit Company
Mentor applications via Microsoft Forms NLT 01 JUL 25 using the
