SUBJ: OMBUDSMAN APPRECIATION DAY
1. On 26 March 2025, we celebrate Ombudsman Appreciation Day. It is
a day set aside for Coast Guard personnel and families to honor
Coast Guard ombudsmen for the dedicated service they provide to our
mission-ready total workforce. Commands are encouraged to host
appropriate functions that express gratitude and appreciation for
the service ombudsmen provide to Coast Guard personnel and their
families.
2. The ombudsman is an official member of the unit command staff
and the primary link and communicator of information between
families and the command.
3. These selfless volunteers are crucial to the success of our Coast
Guard. With the multitude of challenges that our Coast Guard
families face, their role is more important than ever in maintaining
mission and family readiness. Ombudsmen work relentlessly to support
Coast Guard families and provide leadership, experience, and
support.
4. Ombudsmen are supported by Health Safety & Work Life (HSWL)
Ombudsman Coordinators, who serve as an invaluable resource to
ombudsmen and Commands. Their guidance and understanding of the
Ombudsman Program provides a firm foundation to all who are
affiliated with the program.
5. To all our Coast Guard ombudsmen, your devotion and commitment is
highly commended and respected. On behalf of the entire Coast Guard
family, Thank You and Happy Ombudsman Appreciation Day!
