SUBJ: NATIONAL DEFENSE TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION (NDTA) AWARD
SOLICITATION
1. Purpose: This ALCOAST solicits nominations of Coast Guard units
for the annual NDTA Military unit award.
2. Background: The NDTA sponsors annual awards to Military
Transportation and Logistics units, which have accomplished
outstanding or unusual service in the field of transportation and
logistics during 2024. As in the past, this year's award winners
will be selected on a worldwide basis from units whose missions
directly involve transportation of supplies, equipment and
personnel.
3. Eligibility: Nominations are limited to Bases, Air Stations,
Cutters, Sectors, Mobile Support Units, Deployable Specialized
Forces, Areas, and Districts. Operational Logistics Command
staff are not eligible to compete for this award. Nomination
packages should include information on participation in exercises,
operations, community service actions, and awards. Units must have
clearly exceeded normal standards of performance. Nominations that
provide compelling information in the following areas will be most
competitive for the award:
     a. Clear evidence of exceptional performance considering the
unit's stated goals, workload capacity, availability of resources
and performance standards.
    b. Examples of the unit's extraordinary accomplishments under
challenging or unusual conditions.
    c. Accomplishments that highlight cost efficiency data,
operations complexity/intensity, participation in exercises,
efficient use of resources, workload vs productivity data,
operational responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.
4. Nominations: Area and district commanders, commanding officers
of logistics and service centers and unit commanding officers via
their Chain of command are encouraged to submit nominations to COMDT
(CG-441), NLT 02 May 2025. Each nomination package must contain the
following:
    a. An executive summary (free of jargon and acronyms), not to
exceed one, double-spaced typewritten page of unit accomplishments
during calendar year 2024.
    b. Any background information that helps explain, justify,
promote, or facilitate final award selection.
    c. Unit commander's name, rank, commercial work phone number and
e-mail address.
    d. Unit's next higher headquarters name, address and commander's
name and rank.
    e. Point of contact, rank, commercial work phone number and
e-mail address.
    f. An electronic copy of subsections 4.a. through 4.e. above must
be emailed to Daniel.E.Starling@uscg.mil; by COB 02 May 2025.
5. Selection: COMDT (CG-441) chairs a committee to review the
nominations.
6. Award Presentation: An award ceremony will be held at the Annual
NDTA-USTRANSCOM Fall Meeting in October. Details are still being
finalized. For those winners unable to attend, the awards will be
forwarded to the winning unit's higher headquarters for presentation
and the executive summary will be featured in the NDTA October,
Defense Transportation Journal. Unit will need to fund travel to
Annual NDTA-USTRANSCOM Fall Meeting.
