1. This ALCOAST provides program updates for COMDT (CG-OEM) as of
February 2025.
2. The February 2025 Coast Guard Activation and Deployment, Air
Operations Branch Director, Agency Representative, Communications
Unit Leader, Division Group Supervisor, Demobilization Unit Leader,
Documentation Unit Leader, Environmental Unit Leader, Ground
Support Unit Leader, Joint Information Center Manager, Marine
Transportation System Recovery Unit Leader, Medical Unit Leader,
Resource Unit Leader, Situation Unit Leader, and Vessel Support
Unit Leader Position Qualification Standard (PQS) workbooks are now
available to the field. These competencies are detailed in REFs (A)
and (B) respectively. Members currently qualified or seeking
qualification in these positions shall adhere to the following
guidance:
a. Beginning March 3, 2025, members are required to use the
February 2025 PQS workbooks to obtain these competencies. Members
who began pursuing these qualifications before March 3, 2025 are
authorized to continue using the previous version of the PQS
workbooks, but must complete these qualifications no later than
March 2, 2026. Members who cannot qualify by March 3, 2026
must complete the revised PQS workbooks.
b. Members who have already obtained any one of the listed
position-specific competencies are not required to re-qualify or
complete the new PQS workbooks unless obtaining a new qualification
which requires the Activation and Deployment PQS to be completed.
c. The unit training officer shall assign these competencies and,
upon completion, qualify the member in the Training Management Tool
(TMT) and Direct Access. CG Auxiliarists must capture obtained
competencies according to the current prescribed practice outlined
by the CG Auxiliary Training Directorate.
3. All remaining ICS PQS workbooks are currently being reviewed.
Members pursuing ICS qualifications not listed are directed to
continue using the current PQSs until the new versions are made
available.
