SUBJ: USCG RECOGNIZES UNITS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH PARTNERSHIP IN
EDUCATION (PIE) AWARDS
1. The mission of the Coast Guard Partnership in Education (PIE)
Program is to enhance the wellbeing, academic achievement, and
career development of students in communities with a Coast Guard
presence and works through partnerships between Coast Guard units
and local schools. The PIE Program helps develop the civilian and
military workforce of tomorrow, improves workforce engagement and
morale, and strengthens community relationships.
2. During the 2023 - 2024 PIE Program cycle, 2,814 Coast Guard
members (Active Duty, Reserve, and Civilian) from 208 units across
the country volunteered nearly 9,400 hours participating in the PIE
program. Their efforts led to engagement with 68,721 students and
352 schools, ranging from kindergarten to college.
3. After a year of phenomenal growth and success, the Coast Guard is
pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 PIE Awards:
    a. BEST UNIT PARTNERSHIP (up to 100 personnel): CG STA CHATHAM;
BMCS Ross B. Comstock, Officer in Charge; BMC Spencer M. Hinman, PIE
Coordinator.
    b. BEST UNIT PARTNERSHIP (more than 100 personnel): CG AVIATION
LOGISTICS CENTER; CAPT Patrick M. Lineberry, Commanding Officer; OSC
Kimberly Marie Cole and AETC Shane E. Fairbanks, PIE Coordinators.
    c. BEST COLLABORATIVE UNIT (up to 100 personnel): CG AIRSTA PORT

    d. BEST COLLABORATIVE UNIT (more than 100 personnel): CG SECTOR
