AWARD (BEYA) SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH (STEM)
CONFERENCE NOMINATIONS

1. This ALCOAST updates the previous BEYA Solicitation (REF (A))
announcement. Career Communications Group, the host of the
BEYA STEM conference, is accepting nominations for the Stars
and Stripes Awards. The awards will be presented at the BEYA
conference, scheduled for 13-15 February 2025.
2. BEYA STEM awards recognize outstanding talent who are shaping
the future of engineering, science, and technology. This year the
Coast Guard is the featured service, which allows for additional
award consideration. Nomination categories are as follows:
    a. Senior Officer
    b. Senior Executive Service
    c. General Service 14/15
    d. Senior Enlisted
3. The BEYA STEM award categories are as follows:
    a. The Military Service Award - Selectee shall be a senior
officer who has served with distinction supporting the service's
efforts in mentorship, diversity, and value-based service to the
nation and their Service. The nominated individual should have
served within commands/agencies that have missions to procure,
develop, or employ new technologies and systems. Furthermore, the
nominee should be a personal advocate for advances in STEM
and STEM education. Finally, the nominee must have proven
themselves to be of exemplary character and outstanding ability.
    b. Senior Executive Service (SES) Award - The Military Service
SES Award Nominee shall be a member of the Senior Executive Service
who has served with distinction supporting the Service's efforts in
mentorship, diversity, and value based service to the Nation. The
nominated individual should have served within commands/agencies
that have missions to procure, develop, or employ new technologies
and systems. Additionally, the service nominee should be a personal
advocate for advances in STEM and STEM education. Finally, the
nominee must have proven themselves to be of exemplary
character and outstanding ability.
    c. Federal Agency Leadership Award - This award recognizes an
individual at the GS-14 /GS-15 or equivalent level from each federal
agency whose leadership has had a profound impact on their agency's
STEM initiatives. Additionally, the nominee has the potential and
expressed desire for further career advancement to the rank of
Senior Executive Service. This individual should have enhanced their
agency's ability to carry out the mission, fostered an inclusive
culture, increased opportunities for the career advancement of STEM
professionals, and effectively managed a diverse workforce.
    d. Senior Enlisted Awarded - The Military Service Award nominee
shall be a senior noncommissioned officer (SNCO) or chief petty
officer (CPO) who has served with distinction supporting the
Service's efforts in leadership, mentorship, diversity, and
value-based service to the Nation and their Service. The selected
NCO should have served within commands/agencies that have missions
to procure, develop, or employ new technologies and systems. The
selectee should be the epitome of success in carrying out the
standard of performance, training, and appearance of enlisted
personnel. The Service nominee should be a personal advocate for
advances in STEM and STEM Education. Finally, the nominee must
have proven themselves to be of exemplary character and
outstanding ability.
4. All nomination packages must be submitted online using the 2025
BEYA STEM Nominations Portal. Submissions must include:
    a. Awardee Name
    b. Email
    c. Phone
    d. Title
    e. Organization
    f. Award nominated for
    g. Service
    h. Justification for the award
    i. Bio and photo
    j. Timeframe of accomplishments
    k. Submitter's name, phone and email

Nomination package deadlines have been updated from 01 October 2024
to NLT 15 October 2024.
5. All award winner travel and registration costs will be sponsored
by their nominating command/unit, subject to available funding.
6. CO/OICs are strongly encouraged to support the recognition of
all civilian and military personnel (active and reserve).
