SUBJ: 2023 AREA MARITIME SECURITY COMMITTEE (AMSC) OF THE YEAR AWARD
A. COMDT (CG-FAC) Policy Letter 17-01 Change 3
1. I am pleased to announce and congratulate the New Orleans Area
Maritime Security Committee as the recipient of the 2023 Area
Maritime Security Committee of the Year Award.
2. The award selection panel reviewed 43 AMSC annual reports and
identified the New Orleans AMSC for its exceptional
achievements and contributions in safeguarding the Marine
Transportation System, including port areas, adjacent waterways,
coastal/shore side areas, waterfront facilities, and other critical
infrastructure.
3. It was extremely difficult to select only one award winner as all
AMSCs have made substantial impacts to bolster maritime security.
Honorable Mention goes to:
    a. Port of New York/New Jersey and the Port of Albany AMSC
    b. San Diego AMSC
    c. South Texas AMSC
    d. Virginia AMSC
4. The selection panel was comprised of representatives from the
following Headquarters and Area units:
    a. Office of Port and Facility Compliance (CG-FAC) (Chair)
    b. Office of Domestic Port Security Evaluation Division (PSA-2)
    c. LANTAREA (LANT-535)
    d. PACAREA (PAC-575)
5. COMDT (CG-FAC-1) coordinates this award program IAW REF (A).
