SUBJ: U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY ENLISTED SELECTION OPPORTUNITY
PROGRAM (AESOP)
1. Academy Enlisted Selection Opportunity Program (AESOP) is a
two-day overnight program for junior enlisted members with
outstanding performance and leadership potential who are
interested in enrolling in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA).
Attendees will be provided a full academy experience to include
academics, military instruction, athletics, and cadet life.
USCGA graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree and a
commission as an Ensign (O-1) in the U.S. Coast Guard.
2. AESOP will offer both a virtual and one in-person session.
The virtual session will be held on 26 SEP 2024 and the
in-person event will be held at USCGA from 24-25 OCT 2024; members
are encouraged to participate in both sessions (virtual and
in-person), if available. Please contact POCs in para 9 if
operational schedules prohibit participation in both of the
sessions. They will make assist in making alternate arrangements.
USCGA Admissions will provide E2 travel authorization for up to 20
enlisted members. Members' home units will issue orders via E2 and
verify that members have a valid government travel charge card
(GTCC) for travel purposes.
3. Requirements are as follows: Enlisted members must have started
an application to USCGA and completed all portions except submission
of recommendation letters and submission of the application itself;
be unmarried without dependents; not reach their 22nd birthday
before 01 JUL 2025; have demonstrated a responsible use of GTCC
and personal credit; have Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT)
scores of 75 or higher with a minimum App Review (AR) score of 52;
and have completed high school or college level pre-calculus, and
either physics or chemistry.
4. Exceptions to para 3 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
5. To apply for AESOP, the following must be scanned and emailed
directly to the USCGA Campus Programs Manager, LTJG Lindsay Harnly
(Lindsay.M.Harnly@uscga.edu), 14 days prior to the start of the
session date you wish to attend: command endorsement from member's
CO or OINC (in CG MEMO format) including verification of para 3;
unofficial high school transcript; unofficial transcript(s) of any
college credits taken, if any; and AFQT and AR scores.
6. Members applying for AESOP must create a profile on the USCGA
website at:

7. Program selectees will be notified of their acceptance to AESOP
via email to the address the member used to create their profile
in para 6. Members should use an email (personal or .mil) address
that they regularly monitor.
