SUBJ: DECK PLATE DEVELOPERS - POWER PLATFORM/SHAREPOINT
HACKATHON CHALLENGE
1. This ALCOAST advertises the Power Platform Hackathon and
solicits administrative or operational problems that could be
solved by a small-scale application designed on Microsoft Power
Platform/SharePoint.
2. The Coast Guard Deck Plate Development initiative aims to
empower the end-user community to develop small-scale applications,
or µApps ("micro-apps"), using existing Low Code Application
Platforms (LCAP) and other readily available technologies, such as
Microsoft Power Platform/SharePoint, which is found on Pixel
Dashboard. These µApps can increase the productivity of individuals,
teams and commands to better carry out their duties and achieve
mission success without lengthy software development timelines and
expensive contracts.
3. Problem submission: Think about any frustrating administrative
or operational task that takes time out of your workday and
envision a world in which a custom application does the monotonous
work for you, freeing you up to focus on the more rewarding parts
of your job. By 30 August 2024, submit your most difficult
problems here:
(Copy and Paste URL Below into Browser)
https://cg-ideasatwork.ideascalegov.com/c/campaigns/1393/about
The most popular and impactful problems will be selected for
the Hackathon.
4. Hackathon: Problem set details will be advertised via
CG_Ideas@Work and the Deck Plate Developers Microsoft Teams site
and Coast Guard Deck Plate Developers will use Microsoft Power
Platform and SharePoint to develop µApps and submit solutions to
the proposed problem sets. Submissions may include a link to the
product, screenshots, or a video describing the solution.
Applications should be submitted via the CG_Ideas@Work platform.
5. Hackathon submissions shall describe the solution to the
selected challenge related to µApps and capture how they
positively impact the Service. This portion of the challenge will
tentatively open on 9 September 2024 and close on 25 October 2024.
The best solutions will be selected by a panel of experts and
presented to Senior Leaders for prospective sponsorship or
implementation within the Coast Guard. Formal recognition will
also be provided.
