SUBJ: 2024 FEDS FEED FAMILIES CAMPAIGN
1. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is sponsoring the 2024
Feds Feed Families (FFF) Campaign. Since 2009, through the
remarkable generosity of Federal Employees, the Feds Feed Families
Campaign has collected nearly 99 million pounds of food for those
in need.
2. The latest estimates from USDA show that in 2022, food insecurity
impacted 12.8% of American households at some point during the year,
a significant increase from 2021 (10.2%). This means they lacked
access to enough food for an active and healthy life for all
household members. Even with the assistance that USDA provides,
food insecurity is a reality for 44 million Americans.
3. Federal employees are encouraged to participate year-round,
but especially during this year's Summer Campaign period, which runs
from Monday, June 24 through Monday, September 30, 2024. Food
pantries and foodbanks traditionally see a decrease in donations and
an increase in need during the summer months, which poses a
challenge for nearly 30 million children who receive free and
reduced-price meals during the school year.
4. To get involved, both individuals and groups can either volunteer
their time or collect food donations and distribute them to local
food banks. Donations should be reported to our FFF Champions so
they can be entered in the FFF Hub. To learn more about FFF,

5. Coast Guard commands outside the DC metropolitan area are
encouraged to sign up for the FFF nationwide effort. CGHQ
Directorates, Areas, and Districts are encouraged to nominate a
"Champion" to coordinate field unit efforts, plan gleaning events,
and report donations. The CGHQ, Areas, and District Champions will
work with our 2024 Feds Feed Families Champion, LT Ryan Burk,
regarding donation reporting and identifying available resources to
assist field units with their FFF Campaign efforts.
6. To sign-up, please provide a point of contact for the office or
unit that will be participating to our 2024 Champion, LT Ryan Burk
at Ryan.B.Burk@uscg.mil. Field units should coordinate with local
food banks in their geographic area to accept any food items
collected.
