TOURNAMENT
A. Military Assignments and Authorized Absences, COMDTINST M1000.8A
1. The annual Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) Invitational Golf
Tournament will be held from 13-16 November 2024 with check-in to
resort condos Tuesday, November 12 at the Barefoot Resort Golf Club
in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
2. The tournament is open to all Active Duty, Reserve, Auxiliary,
Retired and civilian personnel of the Coast Guard as well as
military and civilian dependents and guests.
3. The four-day tournament consists of 3 days of individual stroke
play followed by a team scramble event on Saturday. The basic
tournament package includes four (4) rounds of golf with cart, with
range balls Wednesday-Saturday; one (1) ticket to Welcome Dinner and
Awards Banquet, Breakfast and lunch (Wed-Sat), Swag Bag, and Access
to Discounted Replay Rates for additional rounds. Onsite
accommodation (Nov 12-16) may be added during registration.
Additional rounds of golf and additional nights lodging are
available at discounted rates. Discounted registration is available
for Active Duty personnel, E-6 and below and O1-O2, and Civilian
employees GS-7 and below. Members can reach out to their local unit
MWR representatives to inquire about the CSC Sports Grant program
defined in the MWR Manual, Enclosure 11. More details on this

4. Registration opens 1 August 2024 through 11 October 2024, or
until the field is full, and is limited to 240 participants.
Entries received after that date will be accepted on a space-
available basis. The tournament regularly sells out, so early
registration is encouraged.
5. In accordance with paragraph 2.A.10 of REF (A) and subject to
command approval, administrative absence may be authorized for
active duty, reserve, and auxiliary event participants. Civilian
employees wishing to participate in this event may use annual leave,
accrued compensatory time off or earned credit hours (if available),
or leave without pay.
6. Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization. Serving as the official aid society for the United
States Coast Guard, CGMA's mission is to enable financial resiliency
within the Coast Guard Community. Each of CGMA's grant and
interest-free loan programs are purposefully designed to ensure that
short term financial challenges do not become chronic financial
problems. In 2023, CGMA fulfilled more than 8,200 requests for
financial help and provided over $9.9 million in support-providing
an average of $27,123 in financial assistance every day. Since its
